Oprah's Sex Discrimination

Oprah winfrey has been hit with a sex discrimination lawsuit by a former employee. Former senior director Carolyn Hommel filed a lawsuit after taking time off to have her baby and lost her job. She claims her work performance was exemplary and she was on her way to becoming the Vice President. While on leave for being ill and maternity her responsibilities were taken over by a temporary employee and Hommel was told she would have to re apply for the Vice Presidents position, which she never got. The charges include sex and pregnancy discrimination, the networks failure to prevent discrimination, and willfull failure to pay wages on discharge of termination. So either they should not have fired her because of the pregnancy or maybe she really just wasn't that good at her job.

This is a very good issue. I wonder how long she took off of work? You cannot expect any employer to hold a position open for a long length of time, business just doesn't work like that. The same thing happened to my aunt. She was off of work during her pregnancy because of complications then took her normal maternity leave. She was off for at least 6 months. When she came back to work she was fired within a week. Companies and businesses go on and adapt to not having some one there weather or not their ego likes it.

That's kinda nuts to think someone with the reputation of being a good person like Oprah gets accused of something like this. Interesting topic to post. If the charges are true I hope Oprah gets her act together and pays her former employee.

The fact that Oprah is being accused of this is outrageous. She is a good women and there is no way that these claims are true. But if somehow it is true I hope the employee gets her money.
